Meenakshi Arts and Science College was established in the year 2020 under the aegis of Meenakshi Educational Trust, Dindigul, a well-known charitable trust founded on 11^th September 2000 with the noble objective of providing quality education and social welfare services to the general public, especially in the backward and rural areas of Dindigul District. The Trust is functioning under the leadership of Dr. V. Chinnadurai, Chairman, along with dedicated Trustees Mr.S.Pandian, Mr.J.Arputham, Mr.V.Gurusamy, and Mr.A.Murugesan, who have been rendering selfless service for the past 25 years.

The college is a part of the Meenakshi Group of Institutions, which includes Meenakshi Higher Secondary School, Meenakshi B.Ed. College, and Meenakshi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, all committed to academic excellence and holistic development.

The institution was started with the vision of empowering rural youth through inclusive, affordable, and quality higher education, transforming students into responsible citizens and skilled professionals. The college is located in a serene and student-friendly environment with well-planned infrastructure, classrooms, laboratories, library facilities, and a vibrant academic atmosphere that supports teaching, learning, and holistic development.

At its inception in 2020, Meenakshi Arts and Science College offered undergraduate programmes in B.A. Tamil, B.A. English, B.A. History, B.Com. (General), B.Com. with Computer Applications, B.Sc. Mathematics, and B.Sc. Computer Science, catering to the academic aspirations and employment needs of students from diverse backgrounds. In response to the growing importance of physical fitness, sports education, and career opportunities in physical education, the college expanded its academic offerings by introducing B.Sc. Physical Education in the year 2023.

The college emphasizes academic excellence, discipline, moral values, and extracurricular development.
